MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE, March 31, 2014, When it comes to Robotic Home Vacuums, iRobot is clearly the dominating force in this industry. The company recently announced the release of the all new Roomba 870, which is miles ahead of the competition. The Roomba uses the AeroForce Performance Cleaning System which is a combination of three technologies that deliver the ideal balance of vacuum suction and extraction of debris. The Roomba 870 will trap dirt, particulates and allergens, which are drawn into a sealed HEPA-filtered bin.
iRobot reports that thanks to iAdapt Responsive Navigation Technology, the Roomba outcleans the competition in comparative coverage tests. The cutting-edge system of software and sensors enable the Roomba 870 to find its way around any shape or size of home, all this while covering every area of the floor multiple times.
Researchers at iRobot were able to build-in the capability to find dirt and debris by using optical and acoustic sensors, and the Persistent Pass Cleaning Method was designed to mimic a human being by employing a back-and-forth cleaning pattern. The smart design methodology includes: Anti-Tangle Technology to prevent the Roomba from getting tangled on cords or carpet fringe and tassels, Cliff-detection sensors to prevent falling down the stairs, Light-Touch Bumper Technology relays to the on-board computer which areas are soft barriers or solid barriers, thus allowing the Roomba to go under curtains, bed skirts and couch skirts.
iRobot explains that the molded, soft-touch bumper cushions the contact between the unit and furniture, walls and other objects. According to a company spokesperson, the Roomba is a Godsend for families with allergies to pets, and high traffic in their home. While other vacuums pick-up dirt, none of them can equal the Roomba 870 for the level of pet hair and allergens removed. This unit can easily be programmed to clean every day of the week, or just to clean certain rooms on certain days and at specific times.
